Moraine and Louise.. no I’m not talking about some kind of sequel and replacing Thelma but given the amazingness of these lakes (yes I made up a word), if they were people they’d be just as badass as the two wild ladies from the 90s. And just like those adventure seekers stuck together, in my mind so does these two lakes.
They’re practically lake neighbours anyways. If you’re in Banff you can’t see one lake and not the other.
This is why.
Exhibit A
Lake Louise
Quite possibly one of the worlds’ most instagammed lakes. I wonder why right?… ha! I probably don’t really need to say anything, a pictures worth a thousand words but of course I will anyways.
There are times when you look at life and think, pinch me, or you’re at a loss for words or you’re flickering you eyelids rapidly asking yourself is this really real?
Well Lake Louise is real. Very real. All of it. The vibrant turquoise water, the towering mountains in the backdrop and intensity of nature around you will catch you in aw as you stare and stare and stare some more.
And just when you try dragging your jaw off the ground, you can’t.
Exhibit B
Moraine Lake
The water is an even more intense shade of blue and is surrounded by the majestic mountain peaks of the Valley of Ten peaks. There is an easy climb up a rock pile to get the best view of the lake and as you can see what view could be better.
I love flocking to popular tourist spots. I find it fun but generally it’s off the beaten path you find the gems. In this case, full credit goes to these lakes. Busy or not they’re absolutely stunning.
Have you been to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake? Can you choose one over the other?
